What is going on in our world (updates/news/specials)
Out with the Old and In with the NEW
According to the Canadian groundhog and some local gardners who are starting to line the roads with daffodils, Spring is fast approaching! So, we decided to do some Spring cleaning of our own here at babybellies. This year we have decided that we want to keep things simple and strive to be exceptional at what we are doing so we are trimming our line down to what our customers really love.
So we continue to bring your our very popular Belly Envy line (belly cream and belly/massage oil) as well as our multi purpose Udder Relief (more on that in the section below) and our wonderful fragrance-free Natural Baby oil!We decided to say good-bye to our Serenity line (foot/hand cream and bath soak).Although both wonderful, decadent products, we wanted to be able to offer ALL of our products for every stage of pregnancy and motherhood and due to the Lavender essential oil in the Serenity line, we can not recommend that for pregnant women. So we have some of our foot/hand cream left and if you love it for really dry hands and feet, get some at a killer deal before they are gone….

Feature Product - Udder Relief (Don't let the name fool you!)
We wanted to introduce you, or re-introduce you, to our Udder Relief nipple balm.We really should have branded it as an ‘all purpose mom & baby balm’ as it is so wonderful a remedy for so many common problems. Packed full of soothing and healing inredients like Olive Oil (organic), Coconut Oil (organic), Shea butter (organic), Jojoba Oil (organic) and Vitamin E, it a great balm for the whole family.
Pregnant Mom - helps with chapped lips (is is a super natural and moisturizing lip balm) and other chapped areas that seem to be even more chapped during pregnancy.
New Mom - It works great as its originally intended use; a nipple balm that you can use while nursing.
New Babe - It works as a great diaper balm (perfect for use with cloth diapers too - won't break them down as some do), and helps with baby excema and craddle cap.
Toddler - Perfect for releif of super dry or irritated skin - for example, it soothes and heals those raw, red noses kids get in the middle of a nasty cold!
One tin goes a long way!
Lanolin Vs Lanolin-free
Lanolin is a refined derivative (a yellow waxy substance) of the fat-like sebaceous secretion of wool bearing animals; most commonly from domestic sheep. It is commonly used as an emollient in skin care products and is found in many cosmetics and some medicines. In nature, Lanolin’s role is to protect wool and skin against harsh climates and environmental damage, so it makes sense that this ingredient is used in products for the protection and treatment of human skin.
That being said it is an animal-sourced product (a product of the oil glands and extracted from their wool) and there have been cases of mild to severe wool allergies, which are often most people’s concerns.
But there is another issue.Any chemicals used on these domestic sheep will contaminate the lanolin extracted from the wool and the majority of lanolin used in skin care products is highly contaminated with organo-phosphate pesticides and insecticides. The Cancer Prevention Coalition says that lanolin itself is perfectly safe, but cosmetic grade lanolin (the stuff that they use in our products) is contaminated with carcinogenic pesticides like DDT, dieldrin, and lindane as well as other neurotoxic pesticides.
So, bottom line, if you don’t have any qualms about animal products and you aren’t worried about allergens and you can get your hands on lanolin from organic sheep or ‘pure’ lanolin, then go for it!If not, look for lanolin-free products.
